Bell Equipment UK has earned a reputation as a leading manufacturer of articulated dump trucks and wheeled loaders
Bell Equipment (UK) Limited set up its UK operation in 1998 following a sustained period of global growth enjoyed by its parent company (Bell Equipment, based in South Africa). The original Bell philosophy of first class products and the very best customer service still rings true today, and Bell Equipment (UK) has gone from strength to strength following its inception.
The products for which Bell Equipment is most known are articulated dump trucks (ADTs). These are understood to be the most reliable, most fuel efficient and most technically advanced ADTs in the world. The range starts with the 20 ton B20D and goes up to the world’s largest production ADT with the B50D 50 ton machine. The design of the D-series (currently in its Mark VII version) brings together the very best in power and drive train technology and efficient, innovative design.
This is not an overnight phenomenon. It has evolved through four generations of strong reliable trucks, which were built on the vision of combining the best FOCUSof the best in components and design, and creating lasting value.
This commitment to excellence in manufacture and supply has been further reinforced by the introduction of reliable and efficient wheeled loaders to complement Bell’s range of new and used ADTs. The range comprises a total of six machines and has received critical acclaim from the construction, quarry and recycling markets.
The range of wheeled loaders offered by Bell Equipment redefines what customers will come to expect from a standard machine. Each model in the range offers the customer the most complete wheel loader available as – with reliability and efficiency built-in.
Over the course of 2012 Bell saw sales of these ground-breaking wheeled loaders rocket by more than 60 per cent in the waste and recycling (W&R) industry. Bell puts this down partly to a growing familiarity of the Bell brand in this relatively new industry sector for the manufacturer – now rivalling its traditional markets of quarrying, mining, construction and earthmoving where Bell has been selling its articulated dump trucks for many years.
But Bell has also found that ‘the word is quickly spreading’ among recycling and waste handling firms that the machines themselves outstrip anything on the market - this is borne out with the fact that Bell has an 82 per cent sales success rate whenever a new W&R customer demos a Bell loader for the first time.
There are three core reasons why Bell loaders are now recognised as the benchmark for the waste and recycling industry:
1. More machine for you money: Highest specification machines on the market
2. Quadcool: Bell’s unique cooling system designed for coping with airborne debris
3. Bell Assure: Bell’s package of added-value benefits and products, which removes the complexities and confusions surrounding everything from finance to after-sales support.
Neville Paynter, managing director of Bell Equipment UK, explained how the company targeted the W&R market by taking a stand at a major exhibition: “Bell
was relatively unknown to many potential customers visiting the RWM exhibition last year. But the exhibition proved a huge success in terms of brand recognition and meeting some key players in the waste and recycling sector.
“We even sold the machine we were exhibiting on our stand to one such customer at the exhibition itself, and the word is quickly spreading now that our wheeled loaders are a genuine force to be reckoned with.”
Bell introduced its six-strong wheeled loader range to the UK only a few years ago. Built to Bell UK specifications by John Deere, they have become one of the most well respected loaders in Bell’s traditional markets. Neville added: “This is now very much the case in the waste industry.”
Key industry customers who have purchased Bell loaders include M J Church, Premier Waste UK, Slough Heat & Power (Scottish & Southern Energy), Brewsters Waste Management, Earthline, Tom Waste Solutions, New West Gypsum and Raymond Brown.
In fact, the minerals and recycling arm of Raymond Brown Group took delivery of three Bell wheeled loaders as recently as September 2012. It already runs a fleet of four Bell B30D ADTs at its quarries in Dorset and Hampshire, but this is the first time it has purchased loaders from Bell Equipment.
Prior to purchase, a Bell L2106E was put through its paces during a weeklong demonstration at Raymond Brown’s Marchwood Wharf site in Southampton.
The machine worked with sea-dredged aggregates, which are loaded into wash and screening plant before being stockpiled ready for sale. Also on an adjacent site, the loader stockpiled woodchip, for loading into ships to be used as power station fuel in Sweden.
Neville commented: “Once again, with Raymond Brown, we’ve seen a major player in the industry switch to Bell on the back of a successful demonstration. We’re delighted that word is now getting out that our loaders are a force to be reckoned with.
“I’m especially proud that our reputation for dedicated service and support – something that forms a central part to our Bell Assure guarantees – is still as strong as ever.”
