Through three generations DUX industrier has consistently created furniture of the highest quality

Since 1926, three generations of the Ljung family have led DUX Industrier, producer of some of the finest and most technologically advanced furniture on the market. As a privately owned company, DUX Industrier conducts all of its operations whilst feeling a great responsibility to provide its customers with the highest quality products. All of the company’s furniture is produced individually and by hand, using carefully selected materials and every product DUX Industrier makes comes from a universal belief that comfort is key. It is this commitment to quality that has seen the business grow to the point where it today sells to customers in 22 countries.

From its three factories, one based in Sweden and two in Portugal, DUX Industrier’s product range includes chairs, sofas, tables and beds. Amongst its range of chairs, the DUX CONTOURETT ROTO, covered in sheepskin, fabric or leather, sets a precedent for the level of care and effort the company puts into each and every one of its products. Other chairs available include the Super Spider Armchair, an exquisite reclining chair first launched in 1987 that features chrome plated steel legs. Also available are the functional and aesthetically pleasing DUX SuperSport, designed by Björn Dahlström, and the DUX Xtol.

For an even more luxurious option, DUX Industrier also offers its Bruno Mathsson collection of chairs, designed with the philosophy that sitting is a fine art. Models available in this series are the Jetson, Ingrid, Karin and Pernilla 69 armchairs. All designed in the 1960s, these timeless designs remain as popular as ever with customers from all over Europe.

DUX Industrier’s sofas come in seven unique designs and carry dynamic names like Fire, Water and Caesar. Before each sofa is hand crafted, expert care is taken in selecting the finest clothing and upholstery materials and each comes with the patented DUX Spiral spring solution that provides a comfort unlike any experienced elsewhere.

In February 2011, as part of the Stockholm Design Week, DUX Industrier announced the launch of a new international bed collection. Marketed under the slogan, ‘DUX: The Bed for Life’, this new bedding collection comes complete with integrated features, original materials and an updated colour scheme. The goal of the company’s bed line is to improve the lives of its users through better sleep. An industry leader in research over the past 80 years, DUX Industrier has its engineers frequently testing every aspect of its beds in line with scientific standards.

One part of the rigorous testing practices that go into the making of DUX Industrier’s beds is the use of ‘Fingal’, a 130 kilogramme wooden dummy. ‘Fingal’ is put to use the moment a bed comes off of the production line, rolling over the bed an amazing 600,000 times. The test itself lasts for one week and represents the equivalent of approximately 30 years of normal use, which is up to four times longer than the life of most beds on the market. Using a compression simulator the company is able to compare with other bedding how many different parts of the bed are pressed against the dummy body. To date it has been proven time and again that the pressure created against the body by a DUX Industrier bed is not only recorded at a lower level, it is also more evenly distributed. Tests recording electrical activity in the brain of sleepers also indicates that these beds provide the user with a deeper, more comfortable sleep.

This deep sleep is also supported by the beds ability to give the human body the perfect balance of comfort and support. The beds’ revolutionary features include the extra lumbar support provided through cranks at the foot of the bed, the DUX Axion, which combines the benefits of the DUX spring system with elevation, and the Pascal Personal Comfort Zone, which can be used to optimise a user’s settings for his or her shoulders, lower back and legs.

The final ingredient is providing the ideal conditions for restful sleep is the use of natural materials. Using the finest cotton gives a luxurious feel while the bed frames are made from northern pine trees. These trees grow very slowly in cold winter environments providing a strong, durable timber. The DUX bed also uses materials like natural latex, extracted from rubber trees, to increase the units’ durability. To top it off, the spirals of each bed are made from the finest Swedish steel, up to 2.3 kilometres of which is used to create the unique DUX spring system.

Supported by a highly trained and motivated workforce and by keeping to the same set of family values that have existed since 1926, DUX Industrier is well placed to continue on the road to solid growth, always looking to expand its export market into developing regions.
